Background

A burn is one of the most severe traumatic injuries, and for that reason, to achieve optimal health and wellbeing for the patient, treatment requires specialized knowledge, advanced professional skills and an understanding of the processes that occur as a result of the injury. In most countries, the need exists for treatment programs on a national level that will provide teams with a professional and skilled response to handle a burn patient scenario as it occurs.
