Objectives:

  • Enhance knowledge in different fields of rehabilitation after TBI
  • Acquire knowledge of advanced technologies in the clinical and research field
  • Review the indications and contraindications of therapeutic modalities for TBI
  • Determine appropriate pharmacological therapy for TBI

Main Topics: (up to 10)

  • Rehabilitation management after TBI (inpatient consultation, acute department)
  • Physiatrist assessment after TBI (DVT prophylaxis, posttraumatic seizure prophylaxis, feeding and nutritional status, neuroendocrine disturbances, bowel functioning, bladder management, pain control, skin care, sleep, hygiene, fluctuation in cognition and behavioral issues – PTA, PTCS)
  • Outcome measures (Coma Recovery Scale – revised)
  • Disorders of consciousness
  • Treatment of TBI complications
  • Treatment of spasticity (pharmacological therapy, specific splints, orthosis, guided botulinum toxin injection ultrasound)
  • Motor and balance recovery (physical therapy)
  • Cognitive interventions (occupational therapy, medications)
  • Behavioral interventions (therapy interventions and neuropsychological treatment, medications)
