Dr. Linda Rubinstein takes an innovative approach in neuroscience to prevent and develop treatments for cognitive diseases, including dementia, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s to enhance the quality of life in female patients.
Serving as the Principal Investigator and Director of Research at the Joseph Sagol Neuroscience Center, Dr. Rubinstein’s journey from escaping communist Prague to conducting innovative research at NASA has led her to spearhead critical studies on aging and cognitive diseases, with a special focus on women’s health.
Dr. Rubinstein’s work dives into the mitochondria of both mice and humans, exploring how cellular processes can be manipulated to prevent dementia and develop treatments tailored for women. Her research is not just about extending life but enhancing the quality of life, addressing conditions like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, which disproportionately affect women.

Dedicated to Improving Cognitive Health

Under her leadership, the Neuroscience Center at Sheba has made significant strides in understanding the connection between the immune system and mitochondria. This research has shown promising results in improving cognitive functions related to aging and potentially mitigating neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Rubinstein’s dedication to Women’s Health and her innovative approach to neuroscience exemplify Sheba’s commitment to providing the best possible care to every patient. Her work fosters collaborations with renowned institutions and researchers, amplifying the impact of her studies and paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries.

Recently, Dr. Rubinstein was profiled in Calcalist, where she elaborated on her laboratory’s innovative research and their approach to understanding and treating cognitive diseases.
