As of 2023, the medical center has been ranked as a leading smart hospital, as well as a top cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, and gastroenterology center
Every year since 2019, Newsweek and global data research firm Statista have been ranking the world’s best hospitals as well as the world’s best specialty hospitals in a highly respected global report.
A yearly tradition
Having already been reaffirmed as one of the world’s best hospitals for the fifth year in a row by Newsweek, we are proud to share that Sheba has also been recognized as one of the world’s best smart, cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, and gastroenterology hospitals.
A word from Prof. Kreiss
“At Sheba, we believe that technological advancement and clinical excellence go hand in hand,” said Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Director General of Sheba Medical Center, after learning of this year’s rankings. “This achievement highlights our global leadership in health transformation as we leverage technology to provide each and every patient with the highest quality and most advanced treatment.”

Newsweek’s Ranking methodology
Newsweek and Statista’s specialty hospital rankings are based on an international peer survey of more than 40,000 specialists, professionals, and hospital directors across 20 countries, as well as an evaluation by world-renowned medical experts and patient satisfaction reports.
The smart hospital ranking is based on an assessment of candidate hospitals by senior officials in the digital and information fields, a peer survey of directors and experts on smart hospitals, as well as an international survey of senior professionals in the field. Hospitals are ranked based on proficiency and leadership in using electronic functionalities, telemedicine, digital imaging, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
“Sheba is proud to rank among the world’s best smart hospitals,”
says Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, Sheba’s Chief Transformation and Innovation Officer as well as Director and Founder of ARC Innovation. “At ARC, our transformation and innovation arm, we see technology, and specifically digital health, as a strategic enabler that will allow us to transform operations and patient care, allowing us to become much more effective, efficient, and centered on human needs.”
Looking forward
Newsweek and Statista’s rankings recognize Sheba’s achievements, including the design and rapid adoption of a range of digital health technologies and AI platforms in clinical practice. We are immensely proud to continue and play a key global role in the efforts to shape the future of healthcare and ensure patients worldwide will benefit from premier care for decades to come.
