YOUR WEEKLY UPDATES FROM SHEBA MEDICAL CENTER
Proud to Treat & Return Hostages to their Loved Ones!
For over a month, a phalanx of doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists and support staff drilled in preparation to receive dozens of hostages imprisoned by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
And then the drama began on Motzei Shabbat, November 25, which dragged into the wee hours of Sunday morning the 26th. As Hamas delayed the release of the children and women, frustration nearly replaced anticipation. But the dogged determination of the Sheba staff to receive and embrace the hostages, even if it meant waiting night and day, never waned. The eyes of the world via the international media, which had assembled outside, were literally trained on Sheba.
At approximately 3:30 AM on Sunday, November 26, the vans with the hostages pulled up to the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital. A sigh of relief was met with a buzz of activity as each liberated hostage was greeted with warm smiles and embraces from the Sheba staff and hostage family members.
After receiving a battery of medical examinations, Prof. Itai Pessach, director of the Children’s Hospital announced to the media that the returning hostages were in good physical shape and none were in need of urgent medical care.
As they begin to leave the hospital, Sheba Medical Center will continue to offer them a continuum of care going forward. And even as you are reading this, Sheba Medical Center stands ready, willing and able to receive the next group of liberated hostages in the coming days.
It is an honor and privilege to play a historical role in this national mission.
In this edition, read and watch about the hostages and our on-going daily battles to treat soldiers and civilians alike.
Bring them hope!
