On October 26, Sheba Medical Center was honored with the Excellence Silver Award at the IHF World Hospital Congress in Lisbon, emphasizing its pivotal role in crisis healthcare delivery and establishing a civilian field hospital in a Ukraine war zone during March-April 2022. This recognition reinforces Sheba’s mission of ‘Hope Without Boundaries,’ highlighting its capability to navigate challenging situations worldwide.

On the 26th of October, in the heart of Portugal’s historic capital, Sheba was awarded the Excellence Silver Award for Providing Health Services During Crisis and for establishing and managing a civilian field hospital in a Ukraine war zone in Mar-Apr 2022. The ceremony, which included 1,400 attendees, took place during the International Hospital Federation (IHF) World Hospital Congress, a distinguished gathering that saw healthcare leaders from across the globe congregating in Lisbon.

The IHF’s Role in Advancing Healthcare Collaborations

The IHF, a global non-profit organization, connects and supports healthcare organizations, offering training, development, and knowledge exchange platforms. This annual congress serves as an embodiment of IHF’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and excellence in healthcare.

Located in the western Ukrainian city of Mostyska, Sheba’s ‘Shining Star’ field hospital was equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an ER ward, labor and delivery amenities, advanced imaging and telehealth technologies, mental health services, and more. The hospital, established and operated by Sheba, stood as a beacon of hope during turbulent times, treating over 6,000 people over a period of six weeks.

It is Sheba’s approach to emergency preparedness and disaster response that enabled the medical center to promptly address the current situation in Israel.
