Saving Lives, While Preserving the Truth

It’s not just about saving lives but also preserving Sheba’s image while doing so. 

Today, we live in a world where disinformation has become the norm in the mass media, stretching across all media platforms.

While the State of Israel continues to be a punching bag in the global media forum, Sheba has emerged almost unscathed. I say “almost” because, as the 9th ranked (NEWSWEEK) World’s Best Hospital, we are constantly under a microscope.

Less than two weeks ago, an accusation was made that returning hostages who have been examined and released from Israeli hospitals, have nowhere to turn for on-going care, once they leave the hospital. Patently false!

From day one of the hostage crisis, Sheba’s vaunted medical teams worked to establish a special clinic for returning hostages, where they would have access to ongoing physical and mental care as needed. To date, Sheba has tended to 36 former hostages, the most of any other hospital in Israel. They know that we are here for them 24/7, and will continue to provide outreach as long as the crisis exists.

The best antidote against these falsehoods are the on-going visits of organizational groups, celebrities, social media influencers and politicians from both sides of the political aisle in the USA.

A few months ago, Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Illinois) visited Sheba with an organizational group from metro Chicago to see, hear and understand how we were dealing with the huge influx of wounded soldiers and care provided to citizens and hostages since October 7.

Last week, Steve Garvey, the former All Star infielder, who played for the L.A. Dodgers and San Diego Padres, and now the Republican candidate for U.S. Senator from California, spent several hours at Sheba to get a first-hand look at our innovative medical care for citizens, soldiers and former hostages (see below) since October 7. 

These politicians, organizational groups, celebs and social media influencers are our ‘ambassadors of truth’ in a world riddled with falsehoods about our country and our medical system.
