The agreement is expected to promote research collaborations as well as staff and faculty exchanges.

Recognizing the value of international cooperation while seeking to expand scholarly ties, facilitate academic partnerships, and promote medical innovation, Sheba and Jefferson Health signed a new MOU as a means of strengthening their collaborative efforts.

Jefferson Health: One of the Top Medical Organizations in Pennsylvania

Encompassing 18 hospitals in the greater Philadelphia region and southern New Jersey, Jefferson Health is recognized as one of the top medical organizations in Pennsylvania. Individually, its hospitals are ranked among the United States’ best in 11 specialties according to the U.S. News & World Report.

“Israel today is what Silicon Valley was in the late 1990s,” says Jefferson Health’s Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mark L. Tykocinski. “It’s an innovation ecosystem with more technology startups per capita than anywhere in the world. In an increasingly global academic ecosystem, the opportunities for leveraging international institutional partnerships to innovate science and professional training are unbounded.”

Joint projects will include exploring the design and development of smart healthcare systems, rehabilitation as well as public health research, a staff and faculty exchange program, and more. Two chief coordinators, one from each respective organization, were appointed to initiate, plan, develop, monitor, and execute joint efforts.

According to Thomas Jefferson University President and CEO of Jefferson Health, Dr. Stephen K. Klasko, “our collaboration with Sheba Medical Center will give us the tools to build the healthcare system of the future – focused on prevention and keeping people healthy.”

As a global leader in both clinical care and medical innovation, Sheba is committed to advancing healthcare through collaborations with governments, academic institutions, and leading medical organizations. Leveraging these strategic agreements, Sheba drives progress, continually improves patient care, and supports colleagues worldwide in making a real difference for the benefit of their communities.
