Cohen Veterans Network and Sheba Medical Center Unveil New Mental Health Clinic in Modi’in
The clinic was designed to help families navigate the psychological impact of prolonged active duty and reserve service. Located in the Azrieli Modi’in Center, it provides accessible care regardless of an individual’s military role, service experience, or discharge status.
Through this partnership, CVN is extending its proven U.S. care model—which has served over 93,000 patients since 2016—to Israel. “There is an urgent need for mental health services among military families here,” said Dr. Anthony Hassan, President and CEO of CVN. “Given Israel’s long history as a U.S. ally, and CVN’s proven impact in delivering care to the veteran and military communities, we are extending our model to support Israeli veterans, reservists, and their immediate family members activated after 7/10.”
FIDF: A Broader Commitment to Mental Health
The Steven A. Cohen – Returning to Life Clinic represents one component of a larger, coordinated effort to address mental health needs across Israel’s military community.
“We are proud to be collaborating with Cohen Veterans Network and Sheba Medical Center to address the critical and widespread need for mental health support in Israel,” said Maj. Gen. (Res.) Nadav Padan, CEO of FIDF. “This clinic is part of FIDF’s broader $118 million multifaceted effort to address mental health needs among Israel’s active-duty personnel, veterans, and their families. Together we are helping to build a stronger, healthier future for generations to come.”
This investment reflects a recognition that mental health support must be sustained, accessible, and delivered through multiple channels to reach those who need it most. The Modi’in clinic, alongside the planned satellite location in Mevo’ot, extends this vision into community-based settings where families can access care close to home.
Resilience, Recovery, and Returning to Life
For Sheba Medical Center, the clinic represents the next chapter of the “Returning to Life” initiative. This comprehensive framework, developed alongside FIDF, is designed to support recovery well beyond active service.
True resilience is more than enduring a difficult moment; it is the ability to restore balance and move forward with strength over the long term. With hundreds of thousands of reservists having been activated over recent years, the pressure on Israeli households has reached a critical point. The new clinic ensures that professional support is available exactly when and where it is needed.
“The rehabilitation of body and soul has always been a core value at Sheba Medical Center, especially during times when Israeli society faces unprecedented challenges,” said Prof. Amitai Ziv, director of the Integrated Rehabilitation Hospital. “The extensive experience and professional expertise we’ve accumulated at Sheba, combined with our partnership with Cohen Veterans Network, FIDF, the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Defense, and the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization, enable us to provide high-quality, accessible, and evidence-based care to IDF soldiers, veterans, and their families. This is a joint effort that merges clinical excellence with innovative tools and a deep commitment to the resilience of Israeli society.”
Comprehensive Services for the Whole Family
The clinic is designed to treat a wide range of mental health concerns, including:
- Individual Support: Specialized care for stress-related conditions, depression, anxiety, and adjustment challenges.
- Family & Relationships: Counseling for marital stress and children’s behavioral or emotional needs.
- Case Management: Support for social determinants of health, such as employment and financial stability.
Care is delivered through a multidisciplinary model utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other proven interventions, available both in-person and via telemedicine. Furthermore, the facility includes a specialized Community Room supported by UJA-Federation, which serves as a hub for workshops, educational programming, and peer connection.
A Path Toward Healing
Recent years have presented significant challenges across Israeli society. The Steven A. Cohen – Returning to Life Clinic creates a welcoming space where every veteran and family member can access professional, compassionate mental health support.
Looking ahead, the partnership plans to further expand this reach, with a satellite location scheduled to open in Mevo’ot in Northern Israel in early 2026. For now, the Modi’in clinic stands as a beacon of hope and a reinforced commitment to the long-term health of those who serve.
