The Never Ending Cycle of Violence Challenges Sheba’s Stalwart Staff
Our enemies never take a holiday. In fact, they know our Hebrew calendar quite well.
In a horrific twist of irony yesterday, an IDF military helicopter landed at 7:10 AM (7/10 being the way Israelis denote October 7) with several wounded soldiers from Lebanon. 12 hours later a suicide drone hit a military base near Binyamina. Once again, an IDF helicopter whisked wounded soldiers to Sheba.
Some of the doctors and nurses who were trying to decompress from the challenges they faced during the morning hours, were once again confronted with feverishly treating a second wave of seriously injured soldiers.
As has been the case throughout the Iron Swords war, Sheba’s talented trauma/ER/operating room staffs heroically treated and stabilized all of the wounded soldiers, quickly and efficiently.
At this moment in history, no other hospital in the world, has treated and saved as many wounded soldiers, as Sheba Medical Center has.
Unfortunately, as the war expands in the North, Sheba’s 2 main rehabilitation units for injured soldiers is almost at near capacity once more. Occupational and physiotherapists are now treating over 90 wounded soldiers from Gaza and Lebanon. There is no time to be mentally or physically exhausted from the seemingly non-stop flow of injured soldiers.
With an additional Israeli counter-attack on Iran, on the horizon, one can only hope that we make it through the forthcoming Sukkot/Simchat Torah holidays in peace.
Nevertheless, Sheba’s intrepid staff will be on stand-by 24/7.
