The People Who Make Futuristic Transformative Health Care a Reality
Last week, another health milestone was achieved at Sheba when an elite team of heart surgeons transplanted a cutting-edge artificial heart into a patient with severe cardiac issues.
While this transplant was not first-in-the-world, as it is being used and perfected in the USA, it was amongst the first to be implemented in Israel, where a shortage of hearts for transplants exists due to a comparatively smaller population than the USA (and many other countries). The Sheba heart transplant team led by Professors Leonid Sternik and Jeff Morgan were positively thrilled with the opportunity to offer a new lease on life to seriously ill patients in need of a solution.
You can read about and see their surgical achievement in this week’s edition.
We are also proud to offer you the inside stories of how Professors Miri Sklair and Iris Barshack are transforming cancer care by using AI to get ahead of the dreaded disease.
Sheba Medical Center is blessed with hundreds of doctors who spend thousands of hours doing research on new technologies that will save and add years to the lives of sick patients who less than a decade ago would have had a far less favorable long term survival rate.
