YOUR WEEKLY UPDATES FROM SHEBA MEDICAL CENTER
When a Hospital is More Than a Hospital
You will be hearing that expression more often in the coming months as Sheba transforms the world via its humanitarian outreach efforts and revolutionary technologies emerging from our ARC innovation ecosystem.
Last week, our Humanitarian & Disaster Response Center team helmed by Dr.
Shahar Shapira, and featuring Dr. Moti Harats, Dr. Tal Kanfino Katz, Dr. Gal Meir, Aviv Ben Yehuda and Itai Vered, were ushered to 4 hospitals in North Macedonia in order to treat dozens of local citizens who suffered various degrees of burns on their bodies in the aftermath of a nightclub fire that killed over 50 people. Sheba is world-renowned for its National Burn Center.
The team also consulted with their N. Macedonian colleagues and other medical experts from the Czech Republic, in order to create a proper treatment protocol.
So grateful were they for Sheba’s immediate response to the tragedy, N. Macedonia’s President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister all personally lionized the team for their efforts. You can watch Dr. Shapira giving an interview to N. Macedonian TV below.
During the past week, several of our ground-breaking ARC start-ups were highlighted at a variety of events and in major media outlets. All of them are impacting and transforming treatment protocols across the globe. You can read about them in this week’s edition, as well viewing our newest episode of SCIENCE DOSE, where Dr. Mona Kidon unveils the secrets of treating peanut allergies with a special “cookie”-yet another transformative invention with a global impact.
