Sheba Physician Relocates to Australia as Part of a New Collaboration with Peter Mac

As part of its ongoing efforts to bolster international healthcare collaborations, Sheba signed a comprehensive collaboration agreement with the Australian Peter MacCallum Cancer Center (Peter Mac), a world-renowned research, education, and treatment institution solely dedicated to caring for people affected by cancer.

“Engaging with leading global medical institutions opens up new opportunities for Peter Mac’s staff and supports our mission to provide the world’s best cancer care to Australians,” remarked Peter Mac CEO, Prof. Shelley Dolan, in a statement following the signing. “We are delighted to be working with an organization of Sheba Medical Center’s stature and look forward to new collaborations and opportunities this agreement will make possible.”

Dr. Mor to start two-year fellowship in Australia

In addition to other provisions, the agreement includes a fellowship exchange program, and we are happy to report that Dr. Eyal Mor, an attending surgical oncologist at Sheba, has already arrived in Australia to start a two-year fellowship focusing on the latest melanoma and sarcoma treatments at Peter Mac. Dr. Mor was joined by his wife, Dr. Danielle Hadar-Mor, a Sheba gyneco-oncologist herself, and their two children. 

“I am looking forward to experiencing a different medical center and discovering the differences and similarities in our treatments and methodologies,” said Dr. Mor, who also added: “In medicine, these kinds of collaborations between clinicians of different backgrounds, and the sharing of unique perspectives, are, I think, critical to advancing research and care and will benefit both the people of Israel and Australia.”

 

Sheba Medical Center is represented in Australia by the Australian Friends of Sheba, an NGO dedicated to strengthening ties between Sheba, Australian medical institutions, and Australian society in general while fostering collaborations for the benefit of all sides.
