Sheba Proms

Patient Reported
Outcome Measures

Another milestone in Sheba’s transparency revolution, providing accurate and updated figures on patient care.

At the forefront of the transparency revolution is our commitment to a patient-centric perspective. The aim is to offer patients genuine insights to the degree to which we have realized our care and service objectives, in addition to the annual publications by the Ministry of Health.

Sheba Medical Center marks a milestone in Israel by unveiling treatment success figures reported directly by patients. Employing PROMS (Patient Reported Outcome Measures), the data relies on patient feedback, utilizing scientifically validated measures to assess treatment success rates. The disclosure of PROMS marks another stride in the transparency revolution established in 2018, when we exclusively unveiled Sheba’s Care and Service Quality Measures, which were grounded in comprehensive hospitalization data.

Empowering Patients
through Data Transparency

Since 2015, Sheba has been implementing PROMS with an aim that pushes for the continuous improvement of medical staff performance. It has extended to numerous additional medical fields since then. The data that can be found in reports is exclusively by the patients, who use questionnaires relating to their symptoms, their level of functioning before and after the procedure and their overall quality of life. There is no intervention by their caregivers.

The questionnaires are globally recognized, scientifically validated, and tailored for various conditions. They were administered routinely before and after each medical procedure. The data undergoes MCID (Minimal Clinically Important Difference) statistical analysis, capturing the smallest quantitative change deemed clinically significant. This threshold ensures that any change below it may be attributed to coincidence or a measurement error.

We take pride in being the pioneering hospital in Israel to engage our patients and the public in these results. We encourage other hospitals to adopt a similar approach, empowering you to make informed decisions about the treatment that suits you best.

We will begin by sharing the outcomes of our cataract and cardiac catheterization procedures at Sheba. Following that, we’ll provide results from various other medical fields.
