Child & Adolescent

Inpatient Psychiatry Department at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital

The  Need

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division at Sheba’s Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital is the largest and most comprehensive in an acute pediatric hospital in Israel.

The division comprises a vast outpatient service, the largest wraparound service in Israel for eating disorders and several therapeutic outpatient centers providing care to children with complex psychiatric problems, such as autism spectrum disorder, who are otherwise left with no care options. The division is committed to full transparency and therefore parents are included from the start and are an integral part of the process.

About the
Psychiatry Inpatient Department

There is a growing need for more advanced, inclusive child psychiatry services. Nowadays, there is heightened parental awareness, earlier diagnosis, and a rising prevalence of psychiatric conditions such as depression, uncontrolled rage and self-harming behaviors.

The Project

The 14-bed Psychiatry Inpatient Department at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital is unique in providing psychiatric hospitalization of complex psychiatric cases while removing the associated stigma, including:

Treatment for Young Cancer Patients – a third of young cancer patients suffer from anxiety and depression. Providing hope to Young Patients – we will be able to take in young patients who have no appropriate medical facility that is able to treat their condition.
