Breathing Beyond Boundaries

Comprehensive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at Sheba Medical Center

The  Need

Sheba Medical Center is committed to providing the best possible care for our rehabilitation patients, and we believe that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an essential part of that care.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can help heal complex wounds caused by blasts, shrapnel, and fallout.

These wounds are deep and do not have sharp edges, which makes them difficult to repair and heal. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can also help treat post-concussion and hearing impairment, which are consequences of blast exposure during combat.

About the
Hyperbaric Medicine

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases the amount of oxygen in the blood by having a patient breathe 100% pure oxygen in a special hyperbaric chamber. This extra oxygen can then help fight bacteria and promote healing.

Hyperbaric chambers already exist in Israel for various medical indications, but Sheba planned to repurpose them specifically for casualties of the Swords of Iron war.

THE PROJECT

The Hyperbaric Chamber is scheduled to open in February 2025.

Sheba plans to purchase a 24-seat Hyperbaric Chamber, which will enable us to provide approximately 100 treatments per day. The Hyperbaric Medicine Center will be located on the ground floor of the Padeh building for Geriatric Rehabilitation.
