The New Institute of Nephrology and Dialysis

Enhancing Care and Comfort

The  Need

In Israel, there are about 7,000 chronic dialysis patients, of whom some 250 are cared for at Sheba. Hemodialysis patients receive treatments three times a week, four hours each time, for the rest of their lives. The physical and emotional burden on them and their families, due to the chronic care they need and on which their lives depend, is enormous.

About the
New Institute of Nephrology & Dialysis

The new 2,500 sqm. Institute of Nephrology and Dialysis currently being built will provide a pleasant, innovative and advanced environment for patients. In collaboration with Sheba’s digital transformation division, we are developing additional amenities that will go beyond our current medical and nursing services, to create a peaceful and comfortable treatment atmosphere. It will also provide services such as augmented reality, virtual reality, advanced audio and entertainment systems, digital access to the medical file and the option of conducting Zoom consultations with the psychologist, dietitian, social worker, etc.

The Project

The new Institute of Nephrology and Dialysis will improve outcomes for patients in a number of ways. Here are some examples:

Telemedicine

Expanded telemedicine service will include virtual nephrology and peritoneal dialysis clinics, enhancing patient monitoring and communication.

Post - Kidney Transplant Clinic

Recipients receive lifelong dedicated follow-up at Sheba’s nephrology institute for ongoing care.
