Transcending multiple barriers, this latest collaboration will accelerate AI-based medical solutions by facilitating access to clinical data

Founded by Mayo Clinic, one of the world’s leading medical centers, the Mayo Clinic Platform Connect is a first-of-its-kind global data-sharing network that accelerates AI-based medical solutions through data science and years of clinical data. Providing secure, cloud-based access to de-identified clinical data across three continents while keeping each respective organization in complete control of its medical records, Connect is a revolutionary new way to advance healthcare without compromising data security.

We are delighted to share that Sheba Medical Center, alongside Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and University Health Network, will become part of this unique initiative, joining Mercy Hospital, Connect’s first member.

To transform healthcare globally, we must expand our distributed data networks to every continent,” explained John Halamka, M.D., President of Mayo Clinic Platform. “Today, three premier medical centers in South America, Canada, and the Middle East are joining our network. They will inspire and guide other regions and systems to join our worldwide effort.

Until recently, complex types of medical information, such as integrated electronic health records data, radiology, and pathology images, were unstructured and difficult to analyze, presenting a significant obstacle to the creation of one global database. By leveraging privacy-protected data in conjunction with AI and machine learning algorithms, Connect will help members:

  • Analyze patterns of effective disease treatment while reducing model bias
  • Accelerate diagnosis
  • Determine the best treatment options
  • Discover new methods of disease prevention
  • Develop, validate, and deploy medical innovations based on years of patient outcomes and effective treatment paths

With this new resource at hand, Connect members will have the best possible framework to create the next generation of proactive and predictive medicine for the benefit of care providers and patients worldwide.

We are thrilled to be part of this historic alliance,” said Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, Chief Transformation and Innovation Officer at Sheba Medical Center, as well as Director and Founder of the ARC Innovation Ecosystem. “By creating a truly global network that will break down language barriers and include diverse populations, we are unleashing the potential of AI solutions to revolutionize healthcare worldwide. This is not just a game-changer, but a visionary leap towards data-driven health care.”

Second Major Agreement between Sheba and Mayo Clinic

This is the second major agreement that Sheba has signed with Mayo Clinic during the past year, as only a few months ago the two organizations inked an agreement that made it easier to share health technologies and support early-stage startup companies, focusing on cross-referral of startup companies from Mayo Clinic Platform Accelerate and Shebas ARC Innovation Ecosystem.

Sheba transcends borders to provide innovative care. The Sheba and Mayo Clinic partnership will have a significant global impact on personalized medicine, concludes Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Director General of Sheba Medical Center.
