After touring Sheba’s extensive campus and other important Israeli sites, participants returned home in high spirits.

African Friends of Sheba Delegation Visited Israel

At the end of June, a unique delegation from the African Friends of Sheba arrived in Israel for a weeklong visit. During a tour of Sheba’s vast healthcare campus, the group had the chance to explore the transformative technologies of ARC, Sheba’s innovation center, and MSR – the national simulation center. In addition, the group learned about the ‘Gal’ workshop – a rehabilitation treatment program designed for IDF veterans and terror victims suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The annual Friends of Sheba Gala was among the trip’s highlights, and gave participants the opportunity to discover the remarkable stories of IDF veteran Itzik Saidyan, who made his first public appearance following a lengthy hospitalization for severe burns, a young IDF soldier who received an innovative jaw tumor treatment, and a 9-year-old girl who was able to resume her normal life following a complex heart transplant.

After their time at Sheba, the delegation traveled across Israel to visit Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, and even the Israel-Gaza border. Gaining a new perspective on Israel, and getting to know each other during an eye-opening experience, the mission was concluded in high spirits.
