2022: The Year Where Sheba Global Impact Made Headlines Around the World
With each passing year, Sheba Medical Center’s global outreach to the citizens of the region and the world-at-large is leaving larger and larger footprints. There wasn’t a single continent on planet Earth where Sheba didn’t make its presence felt during 2022.
Some of the highlights included “Operation: Shining Star” in Mostsyka, Ukraine, where Sheba built and operated the “first in the world” field hospital tent city for the State of Israel, where over 6,000 embattled Ukrainian citizens were treated.
During the course of 2022, Sheba expanded its cooperation with government and private healthcare systems in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) regions, as part of the fledgling Abraham Accords.
‘Down Under’, Sheba increased its medical collaborations and research with hospitals across the Australian continent.
And as the coronavirus continued to plague the world, Sheba’s ground-breaking research and vaccination programs culminated in the launch of the Sheba Pandemic Preparedness Research Institute in tandem with the National Institutes of Health in the USA. (Watch and read more about this below).
Offering “hope without boundaries” also resonated within our own busy medical wards, especially in our Safra Children’s Hospital, where Sheba treats hundreds of critically ill youngsters from Gaza and the West Bank (Palestinian Authority) on an annual basis.
