Founded by Prof. Ido Didi Fabian, Director of Sheba Global Ophthalmology, the “Coffee & Ophthalmology Roundtable” is a series of events where leading ophthalmologists from around the world exchange insights from their practice and research. Each session features a different prominent figure in eye care, fostering collaboration, showcasing Sheba’s ophthalmology expertise, and supporting healthcare professionals in low and middle-income countries through recorded sessions.

The inaugural event in the series will focus on global eye health and access to eye care in Africa and worldwide. Prof. Hannah Faal, a recognized leader in global ophthalmology and Chair of the African Vision Research Institute (AVRI), will share insights from her extensive experience. As the leading author of the Lancet Global Health Commission on Global Eye Health, Prof. Faal will discuss current challenges and opportunities in improving eye care access and quality on a global scale, with a particular emphasis on Africa.

A world-renowned expert in ocular tumors, Prof. Ido Didi Fabian is a senior physician at Sheba’s Goldschleger Eye Institute, specializing in retinoblastoma, lymphoma, and melanoma. With over 100 published medical articles, he has made major contributions to the field, including founding the Global Retinoblastoma Study Group, co-founding the Asian Retinoblastoma Group, and organizing the first ISOO Africa conference.
