Bridging Gaps in Global
Eye Care Research Together
Vision impairment and blindness affect hundreds of millions of people, particularly in low and middle-income countries (LMICs), where 90% of those impacted reside. Despite this significant burden, LMICs contribute only a small fraction of global ophthalmology research. This creates a critical gap in locally adapted solutions, perpetuating health inequities and limiting targeted interventions.
ResearchLink, an initiative by Sheba Global Ophthalmology (SGO), aims to change this. By connecting early-career researchers from low-resource countries with experienced ophthalmologists and researchers worldwide, we provide the mentorship and guidance needed to produce and publish high-quality, locally relevant research. From proposal development to study execution and manuscript publication, ResearchLink is designed to strengthen research capacity and support global collaboration in eye care.
