As part of the collaboration between Sheba Medical Center and Albania's Mother Theresa University Hospital, Prime Minister Edi (Edvin) Rama arrived in Sheba, where he was introduced to the medical center’s cutting-edge innovations and advanced technologies.

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi (Edvin) Rama, arrived this morning (Sunday) for a visit to Sheba Medical Center – his first stop in Israel since October 7. His visit, taking place during a challenging time for Israel, underscores the importance of international cooperation and the strong ties between Israel and Albania in the field of medical innovation.

A True Friend of Israel

During his visit to Sheba, Prime Minister Rama was especially moved by the care provided to the hostages who were brought to the medical center after returning from captivity in Gaza. Rama, a true friend of Israel, has expressed his support for the State of Israel on multiple occasions since October 7 and even addressed the UN General Assembly calling for the return of the hostages—while wearing a pin with their symbol.

Albania is currently undergoing a major development of its healthcare system and is working with Sheba Medical Center to implement innovative cancer care solutions. Rama’s visit highlights the strength of international collaborations in the field of healthcare and the commitment of both nations to building a future in which medical innovation drives economic growth and enhances global quality of life.

Bringing Cutting-Edge Medical Technology to Albania

The collaboration between Sheba and Albania’s Mother Theresa University Hospital focuses on groundbreaking medical innovation, combining clinical excellence with advanced technologies and artificial intelligence—fields in which Sheba is recognized as a global leader. Among the models presented to the Albanian Prime Minister were the CARE Control Center, a cutting-edge, AI-powered operations center enabling real-time optimal care management, and the world’s first AI-based Emergency Department, developed and operating at Sheba’s Emergency Medicine Center.

“Albania is the Jewish people’s second home,” said Prime Minister Edi (Edvin) Rama at the conclusion of his visit to Sheba Medical Center. “The partnership we have established in the field of healthcare will not only improve medicine in Albania but also serve as a model for how health and universal human values can forge meaningful connections between nations.

Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Director General of Sheba Medical Center: “A strong healthcare system is the cornerstone of social resilience, economic growth, and both national and international prosperity.

The strategic collaboration with Albania is part of a broader vision—to strengthen global partnerships through advanced medicine and to build a future in which health serves as a driver of economic development and a catalyst for societal transformation.”
