Sheba Medical Center Expands ARC Innovation to the U.S. with the New Accelerator in Massachusetts
Sheba Medical Center, ranked among the World’s Top 10 Hospitals, is bringing its ARC Innovation model to the United States for the first time. The new accelerator will serve as a soft landing pad for startups affiliated with Sheba’s global ARC network. The network now spans London, Melbourne, Singapore, Berlin, New Zealand, and Boston.
The initiative draws on the strengths of both partners. Massachusetts, home to more than 1,000 biotech firms and internationally renowned medical institutions, represents a prime environment for clinical research and health technology development.
“By combining our innovation model with Massachusetts’ unparalleled healthcare ecosystem, we can accelerate AI technologies that address the most pressing challenges facing patients and providers globally” says Prof. Orly Goitein, Head of Cardiovascular Imaging Service at Sheba.
Bridging Clinical Needs with Scalable AI-Powered Solutions
ARC’s methodology, linking clinicians directly with entrepreneurs, has positioned Sheba as a global leader in digital health and clinical innovation. The new accelerator will focus on three strategic domains: advanced diagnostics, digital health platforms, and workforce-enabling technologies.
“Sheba’s strategic partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will create a hub for startups from our global network,” said Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, ARC Founder and Chief Transformation Innovation and AI Officer at Sheba. “This collaboration will connect digital and AI technology development with clinical needs, enhancing health outcomes and driving economic growth.”
A Model Built for Global Healthcare Transformation
Since launching in 2019, ARC Innovation has supported over 100 startups, including three unicorns, with investment totals exceeding $1 billion. The program offers clinical validation, regulatory guidance, and access to Sheba’s extensive physician network for strategic mentorship.
“It’s great that Sheba ARC has chosen to expand here in Massachusetts,” said Governor Maura Healey. “They had many options to choose from, but our state stood out because we are already a global hub for health care innovation with unmatched talent.”
The new accelerator reflects a growing movement toward cross-border innovation in medicine. As Consul General of Israel to New England, Benny Sharoni, stated, “Together, the innovation ecosystems of Israel and the Greater Boston Area can drive breakthroughs in science and medicine for the benefit of all.”
